The written guide of this Art Tour helps you to  have an better understanding of some of the 20th-century western architecture buildings around the world.

Art Deco Characteristics and Features

Vertical towers: Art deco usually have a flat roof or multi-level flat roofs.


Sculpted decorations & Geometric designs: Elements included in Art Deco are usually geometrical forms, central balance, terrazzo flooring, futuristic images etc.


Metal casement windows: windows are usually adorned with metal casings and heavily decorated.








Columns: Many art deco architecture usually features columns which stands away from the building or sliced columns attached to the front doorway facade acting as an archway.


Rounded corners: Rounded corners in art deco are resultant of technology allowed for construction to be built with rounded corners. The design was inspired by ships, planes, trains and automobiles as rounded corners made buildings appear to be sleek, fast and aerodynamic.
