18 World Historic Figurine

Introduction

Moving on from the crane statue, the next remarkable things people would take notice of would be the bronze effigies of the world historic famous figures, together with their name was stated on the plinth below. These statues can be recognized easily because of their great contributions such as the old master artist, inventors, philosophers and leaders. Most of the figurine display with an expressive posture, often with their one hand up or carrying symbolic items on their hand to show their achievement. These statues also served as a part of the architectural embellishment to enhance the interior space.





Placement of statue

There are 4 figurines standing on both sides of the interior structure of the building, with their front facing each other. On top on that, there were also 3 figurine situated along the exterior structure of building on both sides. Lastly, 4 figurines can be seen standing on the higher platform facing the tower. The placement of these statues is designed in a way that it’s setting reminiscent the layout of sculptures and statues surrounding the open plaza of Piazza San Marco in Venice.

Texture

The close-up textures on the statues provides a clue on how the sculptor's method of sculpting the surface area of the statue. Perhaps, we can assume that the sculptor uses a mixture of hatch and cross-hatching method to produce the repetitive lines on the statue surface area.
